How You Can Survive Social Distancing As An Extrovert

Do you know the number of times I’ve heard introverts say “oh this lockdown isn’t affecting me, it’s not like I used to go out before blah blah blah” oh would you hush! We’ve heard you abeg! Shift to one side. (For those who don't understand, “abeg” is a Nigerian slang).

This article is for my fellow extroverts who have seriously been struggling with the lockdown. I know it hasn’t been easy, so I’ve come up with a couple of ways you could survive this lockdown for as long as possible. It’s not the same as going out but it would help.

  1. Join a challenge

I can’t even begin to count the number of challenges that have come out of this lockdown. Some of my favorites are #SavageChallenge, #SomethingNew, #DontRush, and #StayAtHomeChallenge. There are soooo many of them. In fact, all you need to do to find them is type “challenge” on Twitter, Instagram or Tiktok and you’ll find all of them. Or just watch out for the ones that your friends are being tagged in and join them. Most of them are actually really fun to do and they take up a lot of your time, especially if you’re learning a dance or putting on makeup (for the #DontRushChallenge).

2.Download House Party

Funny how House Party is an app that has been around since 2017 but due to everyone being bored as hell because of the lockdown, everyone is now aware of it and using it to video call their friends. This is a great platform to re-connect with old friends and also meet new ones. Warning: you might get addicted. It’s such a fun app to be on and it’s better than Facetime cause you get to play games on it with your friends and even by yourself. And before you know it, 2–3 hours of your time have passed.

3. Watch Youtube Videos

You’d be surprised at how many hours you can spend on Youtube without knowing it. I once spent 4 hours just watching Dimma Umeh videos (don’t judge me). The only negative side to this is that your data bundle or Wifi plan would finish fast, except you have an unlimited plan.

4. Watch Series and Movies On Netflix

In these Covid-19 times, Netflix should be your best friend. If you don’t know what to watch, just ask people on Twitter, they always have suggestions. Or ask friends or family members. Trust me, there’s always something to watch on Netflix.

5. Play Video Games

Lol this isn’t where I shine but I feel like this is the best time to be a gamer. You can finally play all the games you weren’t able to play when you were busy working or going out. Am I right or wrong?

6. Do That One Thing You’ve Been Trying To Do

I’ve been wanting to finish my photoshop class for the longest time but work didn’t allow me to. Look who has all the time in the world now. What’s that one thing you’ve been wanting to do but didn’t have the time to do before? Now is the best time to do it. It’s legit the best time to while away time.

7. Join or start Instagram live

Everyone is doing Instagram live now. Yesterday I spent my time getting ready with Ronke Raji then later at night I was in the club with DJ Markiss. Today I joined my favorite crazy duo, Tamara and Oscar who made me laugh my eyes out. I live through Instagram live now, and you should too. You can either start one (and if you’re starting one, be creative about it, don’t just start talking randomly on live), or you can join a fun one.

I hope I was able to help you temporarily solve your boredom problem.

Till next time

Stay safe
